RECREATION PROGRAM OVERVIEW

 

U6

This program is for our youngest players aged 4 & 5. This is a basic introduction into soccer with the emphasis on having fun and scoring lots of goals.

Registration for this age group will be based on birth year. (see birth year calendar link at the bottom of this page).

Practices will start two weeks before the start of the season. Coaches will schedule practices during the week to match their schedule. There are 7 weeks of games, played on Sunday afternoons between 1:00 and 4:00.

Teams will have a maximum roster of 6 players, all Coed. Games are 3 vs 3 and will be played in 4 – 8 minute quarters. There are no goalkeepers, and coaches will be the referee. Ball size 3. Practice drills listed under coaches tab.

U.S. Youth Soccer U6 Playing Recommendations- U6 Rules

U8

This program is for our next level players aged 6 & 7. This level is designed to begin improving their footwork and passing skills. The main goal is still to score lots of goals and have fun.

Registration for this age group will be based on birth year. (see birth year calendar link at the bottom of this page).

Practices will start two weeks before the start of the season. Coaches will schedule practices during the week to match their scheduleThere are 7 weeks of games – GIRLS on Saturday mornings from 9:00-1:00, and COED Sunday afternoons between 1:00 and 4:00.

Teams will have a maximum roster of 6 players. Games are 4 vs 4 and will be played in 4 – 8 minute quarters. There are no goalkeepers and there may be a referee (if not coaches shall take turns each quarter). Ball size 3. Practice drills listed under coaches tab.

Coaches shall not park a kid in the back NO GOALIES, goal kicks are added in this age group. The current rule is that all opposing team shall retreat back to the half field line to allow the team taking the goal kick a chance to put the ball in play. NO HEADING THE BALL!

U.S. Youth Soccer U8 Playing Recommendations- U8 Rules

U10

This program is for our next level players aged 8 & 9. This level is designed to continue to improve skill sets and begin transitioning towards the full field game. With the main goal still to continue to have fun.

Registration for this age group will be based on birth year. (see birth year calendar link at the bottom of this page).

Practices can start any time after the coaches meeting and players are contacted. Coaches will schedule practices and typically will occur twice during the week at the coaches choosing. Games are for 7 weeks – GIRLS on Saturday mornings from 9:00-1:00, and COED on Sunday afternoons between 1:00 and 4:00. To expand our playing opportunities we are a part of the iowa soccer central level 3 league. There will be up to 4 away games.

Teams will have a maximum roster of 12 players. Games are 7 vs 7 (including goalkeeper) and will be played in 2 – 25 minute halves. There will be goalkeepers and there will be a referee. Ball size 4. Practice drills listed under coaches tab.

At the U10 Level there are a few additions from the U8 program. There will be Goalies, penalty kicks, Direct and In-Direct free kicks for fouls. Offsides will now be part of the game. Referees will do their best to call the most obvious ones. NO HEADING practice or games. An intentional header during the game will result in a indirect kick for the other team.

U.S. Youth Soccer U10 Playing Recommendations- U10 Rules

U12

This program is for our players aged 10 & 11. This level is designed to continue to improve skill sets and begin transitioning towards the full field game. With the main goal still to continue to have fun.

Practices can start any time after the coaches meeting and players are contacted. Coaches will schedule practices and typically will occur twice during the week at the coaches choosing. There will be 7 games over 8 weeks –COED/Girls on Sunday afternoons between 1:00 and 4:00 (with an occasional Saturday game). To expand our playing opportunities we are a part of the ISL level 3 Central League (games are within a 60 mile radius of central Des Moines), there will be up to 4 away games.

Teams will have a maximum roster of 16 players. Games are 9 vs 9 (including goalkeeper) and will be played in 2 – 30 minute halves. There will be goalkeepers and there will be a center ref with two assistant referees (AR’s). Full FIFA rules apply, including offside. Ball size 4. Practice drills listed under coaches tab.

Uniform will need to be purchased thru Goalkick Soccer, see uniform tab under recreational.

U.S. Youth Soccer U12 Playing Recommendations- U12 Rules

U14

This program is for our players aged 12 & 13. This level consists of playing the game within the full rules and field size that soccer allows. With the main goal still to continue to learn the game and to have fun.

Registration for this age group will be based on birth year. (see birth year calendar link at the bottom of this page).

Practices can start any time after the coaches meeting and are players contacted. Coaches will schedule practices and typically will occur twice during the week at the coaches choosing. There will be 7 games over 8 weeks with ine bye weekend –COED/Girls on Saturday afternoons between 1:00 and 4:00 (with an occasional Sunday game). To expand our playing opportunities we are a part of the ISL level 3 Central League (games are within a 60 mile radius of central Des Moines), there will be up to 4 away games.

Short Sided

Occasionally we do not have enough players to create a full size team. When this occurs we create a smaller team and they play what is referred to as “Short Sided”. Play goes back to a U12 size field and play the 6 vs 6 format. All rules are the same.

Teams will have a maximum roster of 22 players (14 short sided), although only 18 can participate in a single game. Games are 11 vs 11 (including goalkeeper) and will be played in 2 – 35 minute halves. There will be goalkeepers and there will be a center ref with two assistant referees (AR’s). Full FIFA rules apply, including offside. Ball size 5. Practice drills listed under coaches tab.
